About The Position

DISHER is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer for a two-year project supporting a medical device customer team onsite in Portage, Michigan. The engineer will lead reliability work for copied assets from an existing production line, rather than newly designed assets, and build the reliability discipline from scratch. The work includes analyzing uptime and downtime across the building, validating existing performance metrics, developing spare-parts strategy, and implementing a reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) system. The goal is to achieve near-continuous operation.

Requirements

  • Prior reliability engineering experience in automotive, consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, medical device, or heavy equipment industries.
  • Expertise and in-depth knowledge of reliability engineering.
  • A proven reliability engineering track record, including uptime or OEE improvement, downtime analysis, spare-parts strategy, and RCM methodology.
  • Experience establishing or maturing a reliability function, rather than only maintaining an existing one.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong metrics and analytics skills, including the ability to define and track appropriate reliability measures and use them to drive behavior.

Nice To Haves

  • Background with automated production equipment, such as weld cells or assembly automation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead reliability efforts for copied assets from an existing production line.
  • Build uptime and downtime analysis and filtering across the building.
  • Drive reliability behaviors and develop a spare-parts strategy.
  • Validate whether current uptime and downtime metrics are appropriate.
  • Implement a reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) system.
