About The Position

DISHER is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer for a 2-year project supporting its medical device customer team onsite in Portage, Michigan. The role focuses on reliability of copied assets from an existing production line, rather than new design. The engineer will build the reliability discipline from scratch by analyzing uptime and downtime across the building, developing spare parts strategy, validating existing metrics, and implementing a reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) system. The goal is to achieve near-continuous operation. DISHER describes its purpose as making a positive difference and seeks teammates who bring diverse talents to work with customers, coworkers, and communities.

Requirements

  • Prior reliability engineering experience in the automotive, consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, medical device, or heavy equipment industry.
  • Expertise and in-depth knowledge across reliability engineering.
  • A proven reliability engineering track record, including uptime/OEE improvement, downtime analysis, spare parts strategy, and RCM methodology.
  • Experience establishing or maturing a reliability function, rather than only maintaining an existing one.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong metrics and analytics skills, including defining, tracking, and using appropriate reliability measures to drive behavior.

Nice To Haves

  • Background with automated production equipment, such as weld cells or assembly automation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead reliability efforts for copied assets from an existing line, not new designs.
  • Build uptime and downtime analysis that filters across the building.
  • Drive reliability behaviors and develop a spare parts strategy.
  • Validate whether current uptime and downtime metrics are appropriate.
  • Implement a reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) system.
  • Work toward near-continuous equipment operation.
