Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years' medical office experience and/or experience working in a Health Information Department
• Medical Terminology
• Computer Skills (Microsoft Office)
• Ability to multi-task
• Customer Service Skills
• High level attention to detail and accuracy

Responsibilities

• Work closely with patients and help them complete the Release of Information Authorization Form.
• Evaluate various types of requests and incoming correspondence to make sure forms are filled out correctly and following Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines.
• Process non-billable Protected Health Information (PHI) requests to outside medical providers, facilities, or patients.
• Answer incoming phone calls and resolve or transfer to appropriate person.
• Participate in one on one meetings with your supervisor and monthly team huddles.
• Abide by the HIPAA state and federal regulations.
