About The Position

The Release of Information Specialist responds to requests for protected health information and ensures appropriate regulatory and organization guidelines are followed. This includes handling subpoenas, patient access requests, third-party requests, court orders, and warrants for facilities licensed under LLUMC, LLUCH, FMG practice groups, contracted LLUH organizations, and other entities. The role also involves answering phones, welcoming and assisting patients and visitors to the department, and acting as the designee of the custodian of records in court cases when summoned. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality.
  • Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.

  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a medical records department preferred.
  • Medical terminology preferred.
