About The Position
The Release of Information Specialist (ROIS) initiates the medical record release process by entering data into Verisma Software. The specialist works quickly and carefully to ensure documentation is processed accurately and efficiently. This position is based at a Verisma client site in Chesterfield, Missouri and reports to the Manager of Operations, Release of Information.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of medical record experience.
- At least 2 years of clerical or office-work experience.
- Experience using general office equipment, including a desktop computer and scanner, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently.
- Detail-oriented.
Nice To Haves
- Some college education.
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and state regulations related to the release of Protected Health Information.
Responsibilities
- Process medical release-of-information requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Process requests using Verisma software applications.
- Support resolution of HIPAA-related release issues.
- Organize records and documents to complete the release-of-information process.
- Read and interpret medical records, forms, and authorizations.
- Provide customer service in person, by phone, and by email, depending on location requirements.
- Interact professionally and courteously with customers and coworkers.
- Use Verisma-provided reference materials to maintain compliance and confidentiality.
- Attend training sessions as required.
- Live by and promote Verisma company values.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support effective operation of the department and company.
