About The Position

The Release of Information Specialist (ROIS) initiates the medical record release process by entering data into Verisma software. Working at a Verisma client site in Gallipolis, Ohio, the specialist processes documentation quickly, carefully, accurately, and efficiently. The role reports to the Manager of Operations, Release of Information.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years of medical record experience.
At least 2 years of experience completing clerical or office work.
Experience using general office equipment, including a desktop computer, scanner, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently.
Detail-oriented.

Nice To Haves

Some college.
RHIT certification.
Experience in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of HIPAA and state regulations related to the release of Protected Health Information.

Responsibilities

Process medical release-of-information requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Process requests using Verisma software applications.
Support resolution of HIPAA-related release issues.
Organize records and documents to complete the release-of-information process.
Read and interpret medical records, forms, and authorizations.
Provide customer service in person, by phone, and by email, depending on location requirements.
Interact professionally and in a friendly manner with customers and coworkers.
Use Verisma-provided reference materials to maintain compliance and confidentiality.
Attend training sessions as required.
Live by and promote Verisma company values.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support effective department and company operations.
