About The Position

The Release of Information Specialist (ROIS) initiates the medical record release process by entering data into Verisma Software. The specialist works quickly and carefully to ensure documentation is processed accurately and efficiently. This position is based at a Verisma client site in Gainesville, Florida, and reports to the Manager of Operations, Release of Information.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years of medical record experience.
At least 2 years of experience completing clerical or office work.
Experience using general office equipment, including a desktop computer, scanner, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently.
Detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

Some college.
RHIT certification.
Experience in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of HIPAA and state regulations related to the release of Protected Health Information.

Responsibilities

Process medical release-of-information requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Process requests using Verisma software applications.
Support the resolution of HIPAA-related release issues.
Organize records and documents to complete the release-of-information process.
Read and interpret medical records, forms, and authorizations.
Provide customer service in person, by phone, and via email, depending on location requirements.
Interact with customers and coworkers in a professional and friendly manner.
Use Verisma-provided reference materials to maintain compliance and confidentiality.
Attend training sessions as required.
Live by and promote Verisma company values.
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure effective operation of the department and company.
