About The Position

The Canadian Cancer Society works tirelessly to save lives, improve lives and drive collective action against cancer. Together, with patients, volunteers, donors, and communities across the country, they raise funds to invest in transformative cancer research, provide a caring support system for everyone affected by cancer, and advocate to governments to create a healthier future for all. The Relay for Life Youth Specialist will work as part of the national RFLY team to actively solicit new business opportunities with high schools to meet strategic revenue targets for the Relay for Life Youth Program. Relay for Life is a fundraising event put on by students at their school to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society and support individuals in their community impacted by cancer. This role is responsible for revenue development, program support, and relationship management of current and new schools within the program. This role is a hybrid work model also requiring travel to high schools across the region, for recruitment, committee meetings, Relay events and student leadership conferences from September to July. July and August are focused on program planning and development.

Requirements

Post-secondary education in a related field.
At least 1 – 2 years of customer service, fundraising, and/or sales experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft tools including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.
A Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
Occasional travel across Canada occurs for internal meetings, conferences, and event visits; often independently.
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are required.
Bilingualism (French/English) is required due to the organization’s nationwide operations and the need for effective communication across various regions.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a Non-profit setting is considered an asset.
Experience with Instagram and Canva is considered an asset.
Knowledge and/or involvement in the Relay for Life Youth program is an asset.

Responsibilities

Recruit new high schools and maintain relationships with existing schools participating in Relay for Life.
Present the program to students, teachers, and school administrators.
Attend leadership conferences and promote Relay for Life through booths and workshops.
Manage and significantly grow a revenue portfolio of approximately $250,000.
Train, coach, and mentor students organizing panels and teacher advisors.
Support committees to achieve participation and fundraising goals.
Attend committee meetings as required to support event success.
Coach on strategies including recruitment, fundraising, marketing, promotions, and sponsorship.
Plan and deliver training initiatives such as Relay University.
Support year-round program and resource development initiatives.
Liaise with internal CCS departments related to program delivery.
Adhere to administrative procedures and required reporting.
