About The Position

Performs maintenance tests and maintains relays and other circuit protective devices and instruments. Makes final check of new protective equipment and instruments before they are put into service to insure their correct installation and operation; makes necessary corrections. Checks protective equipment and associated circuits to determine source of trouble after undesirable operations; makes necessary repairs and corrections. Performs scheduled routine maintenance tests of electro-mechanical, electronic and solid state relays; electronic and solid state tone transmitting and receiving equipment, electronic and solid state equipment associated with power line carrier relaying and other complex circuit protective equipment. Assists with other tasks as may be required. Assists the electrical technicians in testing and checking load control equipment, supervisory, telemetering, and other control equipment. Records the results of tests and assists with associated records. Cleans, adjusts and calibrates relays and solid state devices. Corrects wiring drawings and diagrams. Terminates and makes loss measurements of substation fiber optic cables. Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree Study in an engineering college Preferred.
  • 4 years' technical experience in plant and substation electrical work
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Proven basic knowledge of electrical work
  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer and use associated software, i.e., Windows, Excel, Word and communication packages.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability
  • Aptitude to work alone in unsupervised situations
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness to handle unusual technical situations
  • Physical ability to perform job duties
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
