About The Position

Integrated Care Solutions NRIO, a division of Bayshore HealthCare, specializes in community-minded, progressive brain injury rehabilitation, aiming to empower individuals with tools and guidance to enhance their quality of life. They employ a diverse team of healthcare professionals to create customized treatment programs across various settings, including 24-hour residential treatment, supported living, community programs, and therapeutic day programs. The organization utilizes a person-and family-centered care (PFCC) approach, emphasizing family involvement in healthcare planning and decision-making to provide respectful, compassionate, culturally safe, and responsive care. The current opening is for part-time Rehabilitation Therapists who will provide supervision and support to individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABIs). This role is based at their Etobicoke Residential Rehabilitation site, a group-home setting offering 24-hour care for clients with ABIs and concurrent physical, mental, behavioural, and/or substance use challenges. The Rehabilitation Therapist will also work with community clients within the GTA, engaging them in daily functional rehabilitation and meaningful activities. The primary goals include increasing client independence, facilitating participation in life activities, and supporting community, social, and avocational/volunteer reintegration. As a Rehabilitation Therapist, the individual will contribute to a team dedicated to delivering specialized care to aid clients in their recovery journey.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary studies in social sciences or healthcare related areas
  • G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract, access to a vehicle and the proper insurance to transport clients in own vehicle is required (you will be transporting clients within the community)
  • Availability to work on weekends, days, evenings, occasional overnights and some holidays
  • Willingness and ability to perform personal care, medication assistance, ADLs, administrative tasks, light cleaning, advocacy, and therapy implementation
  • Physically capable of bending, stretching, and lifting
  • Proficient with computers and secure email systems

  • Experience working with individuals with mental health issues, dual diagnoses, behavioural challenges, chronic pain, or addictions
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, including managing challenging behaviours (e.g., aggression, elopement, inappropriate conduct)
  • Ability to work independently, take direction, and collaborate effectively with a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to complete tasks within set timeframes
  • Committed to ongoing learning and professional development

Responsibilities

  • Work with individuals with acquired brain injuries while assisting them with increasing levels of independence through individualized rehabilitation programs (responsible for up to 5 clients at a particular time)
  • Complete documentation following company and provincial guidelines
  • Follow the designed rehabilitation program as accurately as possible
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs); performing personal care, medication management, various forms of transfer tasks, housekeeping
  • Accompany clients on community outings as needed via external transport services or your own vehicle
  • Utilize appropriate Crisis and Behavioural Management strategies
  • Collect required clinical data through documentation, tracking, etc.
  • Complete research to assist with enhancing client programs
  • Other clinical and administrative duties as assigned
  • Provide flexible availability (evenings, weekends, overnights, occasional holidays)
