About The Position

Bayshore HealthCare is seeking a dedicated and supportive Rehab Assistant to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of treatment programs as prescribed by regulated healthcare practitioners, supporting adult and/or pediatric clients to achieve their maximum potential. Key duties include carrying out prescribed treatment programs, documenting client progress, and reporting outcomes to healthcare providers. The position is part-time, requiring availability three days a week (Monday to Friday), with approximately 15-20 visits per week. This is a community-based role in Sudbury and surrounding rural areas, with pay per visit and mileage reimbursement between clients.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and/or Rehabilitation Assistant College Program.
  • Experience working in person or virtually with an Occupational Therapist is an asset.
  • Enjoy dealing with people and working in a fast-paced customer service environment.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent manner.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team.
  • Ability to be self-directed and take direction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and proficiency with secure email.
  • Commitment to continual learning.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Dependent upon Provincial government regulations, and the position being applied for, new hires may be required to provide proof of vaccination against illnesses such as COVID-19, Hepatitis, Seasonal Flu etc.

  • Will also consider a university degree in kinesiology and/or the possession of a RRP or CCRC designation.

Responsibilities

  • Implement personalized rehabilitation programs in collaboration with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, and Speech and Language Pathologists.
  • Promote maximum independence for clients at home, in the community, and at work to support their re-integration.
  • Conduct engaging exercise programs and group exercise classes.
  • Implement effective behavioral interventions tailored to each client’s needs.
  • Facilitate and supervise activities of daily living, along with social, educational, and vocational re-integration plans.
  • Implement cognitive therapy programs to enhance clients’ cognitive abilities.
  • Promote and organize enjoyable leisure activities for clients.
  • Attend case conferences and team meetings to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Drive clients safely as needed (with valid insurance coverage).
  • Understand and implement infection prevention practices to maintain a safe environment.
  • Participate in ongoing internal and external continuing education activities.
  • Complete additional tasks as requested to support client care.
