About The Position

The Department of Communication at the Faculty of Arts is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach CMN4148-A00, Communication in Governmental Organizations, during the Fall 2026 semester. This course examines communication between governments and various audiences in the context of public policy, consultations, public information campaigns, e-government, and internal changes. Key concepts such as governance, accountability, transparency, access to information, and privacy will be discussed. The course will critically assess government communication strategies in relation to participatory democracy and review case studies, with a focus on Canadian institutions in Ottawa.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or M.A. in Communication (preferably).
  • Professional experience or expertise directly related to the course content.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
  • Competence in a second language (passive).

  • Teaching experience related to the course.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course CMN4148-A00: Communication in Governmental Organizations.
  • Deliver course content in English, with passive competence in a second language.
  • Conduct the course in person, with scheduled times on Wednesdays from 13:00 to 14:30 and Fridays from 11:30 to 13:00.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.

Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: Enseignement / Teaching: $239.47 (2024-2025)
  • Vacation pay and statutory pay are not included in the hourly rate.
