About The Position

The Faculty of Arts, Department of Communication is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach JOU4300-A00: Sociology of Journalism: From Production to Reception during the Fall 2026 semester. This course will study the working conditions of journalists, factors and values influencing their daily practices, empirical studies on the profession and public perceptions, and the impact of concentration and convergence on information quality, diversity, and integrity. It will also cover strategies of information sources. The course is scheduled to meet on Mondays from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and will be offered in person. The expected enrollment is 45 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The hourly rate for teaching is $239.47 (2024-2025 rates), which does not include vacation or statutory pay and will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity paid after ratification. Requirements

  • Ph.D. or M.A. in Communication or Journalism (preferably).
  • Professional experience or expertise in Journalism.
  • Competence in English (language of instruction).
