About The Position

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach TEAMWORK & COMMUNICATION SKILLS (SED1112, Section A) during the 2027 Winter Semester. This role involves developing and delivering interactive lectures and workshops on teamwork and communication principles in engineering, guiding students in verbal and written communication skills, facilitating group projects, and assessing student performance. The instructor will also explore the impact of teamwork and communication on the engineering profession and society, provide constructive feedback, and hold office hours. The position is limited to Regular Part-Time Professors and requires teaching in English.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Communication, Education, or a related field
  • Proven teaching experience at the post-secondary level
  • Strong understanding of team dynamics, collaborative problem-solving, and professional communication in engineering
  • Ability to mentor students in both individual and group settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Teaching in French

Nice To Haves

  • Experience facilitating teamwork or communication workshops in an engineering or technical context
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary or project-based learning environments
  • Experience supervising or coaching student teams on engineering projects

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver interactive lectures and workshops on the principles of teamwork and effective communication in engineering

  • Guide students in developing both verbal and written communication skills essential for technical professionals, such as presenting ideas, providing feedback, and facilitating group discussions

  • Assess student performance through group assignments, presentations, and reflective exercises
  • Provide constructive feedback to support student growth in teamwork and communication
  • Hold office hours to assist students outside of class time
