About The Position

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Ethics and Moral Reasoning for Public and International Affairs (API5135D) during the 2027 Winter Semester. This course examines the application of ethics and moral reasoning to public policy and international affairs, exploring current debates in moral philosophy and their relevance to contemporary controversies. Topics include justice in social and environmental policy, the use of military intervention, and the accommodation of diverse religious and ethnic differences in liberal democracies. The course is taught in English and requires active competence in a second language.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in philosophy or political philosophy
  • Demonstrated ability to apply philosophical and moral reasoning to the analysis of problems of public and international affairs
  • Successfully complete all mandatory legislated training

  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
  • Competence in second language: Active
