About The Position

The University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach SOC/ANT2103 A00, Socio-Anthropology of the Family, during the Fall 2026 semester. This course provides an introduction to the sociological and anthropological analysis of the family, with a focus on kinship, parenthood, the relationship between symbolic and empirical aspects of family life, and issues of gender equity and sexuality. The course is taught in English and is an in-person class combined with ANT2103, scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:30 to 19:00.

Requirements

  • M.A. in sociology or more advanced training in sociology.
  • Demonstrable track record of expertise in the field Socio-anthropology of the Family, evidenced by previous teaching experience in the same or similar course or through publications in the field.
  • Successful completion of all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.

  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
