About The Position

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor for the course ESNTL CONCEPTS IN DATA SC (MIA5126, Section A) during the 2026 Fall Semester. This online course is designed for undergraduate students and requires a strong background in Data Science, including statistical modeling, machine learning, data visualization, and applied experience in data engineering and big data analytics. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated industry experience applying Data Science techniques to real-world problems and experience in teaching Data Science at the undergraduate or graduate level. Proficiency with modern Data Science tools and technologies such as Python, SQL, Spark, ML frameworks, and cloud platforms is essential. Requirements

Ph.D. in DTI, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related field with a strong focus on Data Science, analytics, or AI/ML.
Strong expertise in Data Science, including statistical modelling, machine learning, data visualization, descriptive and predictive analytics, and time series analysis.
Applied experience in data engineering, data warehousing, big data analytics, and data workflows/pipelines.
Demonstrated industry experience applying Data Science techniques to real-world problems, including the development and deployment of data-driven solutions in practical or production environments.
Teaching experience in Data Science or related fields at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
Hands-on experience with modern Data Science tools and technologies, including Python, SQL, Spark, ML frameworks, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Familiarity with distributed data storage and processing systems.
