About The Position

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach the course MIA5130: SYSTEMS OPTI AND MNGT during the 2026 Fall Semester. This online course is scheduled for Wednesdays from 19:00 to 22:00. The University of Ottawa is committed to diversity, inclusion, and creating a barrier-free work environment. Requirements

Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, mathematics, operations research, or a closely related field with a strong focus on AI/ML.
Experience teaching a similar course at the graduate level and/or undergraduate level.
Experience working on projects involving optimization techniques, such as developing algorithms, modelling complex systems, or improving business processes, with applications in AI, machine learning, or data-driven decision systems.
Experience working with optimization tools and computational methods, such as Python, MATLAB, and/or optimization libraries/solvers.
Familiarity with AI or data-driven approaches in optimization, such as machine learning-enhanced optimization, heuristic methods, and intelligent decision systems.

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated industry experience applying AI, optimization, or data-driven methods to real-world problems including areas such as system optimization, data analysis, or process improvement.

Responsibilities

Teach the course MIA5130: SYSTEMS OPTI AND MNGT.
Deliver instruction in English.
Successfully complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
