About The Position

The Faculty of Engineering is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach the course FUND. OF CYBERSECURITY (MIA5310) in the School of Engineering Design and Teaching Innovation. This is an online course scheduled for Thursdays from 19:00 to 22:00 during the 2026 Fall Semester. The expected enrollment is 30 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The hourly rate for teaching is $239.47 (2024-2025), which does not include vacation or statutory pay and will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity paid after ratification. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. The University of Ottawa is committed to diversity, inclusion, and creating a barrier-free work environment. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Digital Transformation and Innovation, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity threats, security policies and governance, encryption methods, user authentication and authorization, and the protection of networks, operating systems, applications, and databases.
  • Experience with network security tools.
  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent industry experience, applying cybersecurity techniques to real-world challenges.
  • Experience teaching related courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Strong academic background with published research in reputable peer-reviewed journals or conferences in the field of cybersecurity.
