About The Position

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor for the course SYSTEMS OPTI AND MNGT (MIA5130, Section A) during the Winter 2027 semester. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, mathematics, operations research, or a closely related field with a strong focus on AI/ML.
  • Experience teaching a similar course at the graduate level and/or undergraduate level.
  • Experience working on projects involving optimization techniques (developing algorithms, modeling complex systems, improving business processes) with applications in AI, machine learning, or data-driven decision systems.
  • Experience working with optimization tools and computational methods (e.g., Python, MATLAB, optimization libraries/solvers).
  • Familiarity with AI or data-driven approaches in optimization (e.g., machine learning-enhanced optimization, heuristic methods, intelligent decision systems).
  • Demonstrated industry experience applying AI, optimization, or data-driven methods to real-world problems (system optimization, data analysis, process improvement).

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course SYSTEMS OPTI AND MNGT (MIA5130, Section A) at the graduate or undergraduate level.
  • Develop and deliver course content, including algorithms, modeling, and process improvement.
  • Apply optimization techniques, AI, machine learning, and data-driven methods to real-world problems.
  • Utilize optimization tools and computational methods such as Python and MATLAB.
  • Engage with students in an online learning environment.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
