About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach EVS3120 Environmental Microbiology, Section A, during the Fall 2026 semester. The course examines microbes in various environments, focusing on their roles in biogeochemical cycles, redox processes, contaminant mobility, biodegradation, and ecosystem productivity. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. The hourly rate for teaching is $239.47 (2024-2025), which does not include vacation or statutory pay. These rates are applicable until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity applied after ratification. Requirements

  • Granted degree: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Earth Sciences or Environmental Sciences.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental issues.
  • Prior experience in teaching undergraduate courses at the University.
  • Competence in a second language (active).

Responsibilities

  • Teach EVS3120 Environmental Microbiology, Section A.
  • Examine microbes in various environments, including wetlands, lake sediments, aquifers, deep crustal settings, polar ice, and desert surfaces.
  • Emphasize the roles of microbes in biogeochemical cycles, redox processes, contaminant mobility, biodegradation, and ecosystem productivity.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
