About The Position

This course provides hands-on experience and the functional overview necessary to create GIS databases for practical projects, map data in 2D and 3D, analyze single GIS layers, pairs of GIS layers and quantitatively integrate many GIS layers of different types using GIS and geostatistical software and tools. Methodologies have applications in many science and engineering fields in which project data are of spatial type. This course enables students to apply GIS and spatial analysis techniques in their thesis and other future projects.

Requirements

  • Ph. D in Geology or Earth Sciences.
  • Teaching experience at the university level.
  • Competence in a second language (active).
  • Ability to complete all mandatory legislated training.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (priority given).

  • An acceptable level of education/experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach GEO4306 APP GIS SCI & ENG, Section A during the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Provide hands-on experience and functional overview for creating GIS databases.
  • Instruct students on mapping data in 2D and 3D.
  • Guide students in analyzing single and paired GIS layers.
  • Teach quantitative integration of multiple GIS layers using GIS and geostatistical software.
  • Enable students to apply GIS and spatial analysis techniques in their thesis and future projects.
