About The Position

The Civil Law Section of the Faculty of Law is seeking to recruit part-time professors who are distinguished by their expertise and play a leading role in the legal profession. This specific course, 'Ordre juridique autochtone et droit de la famille' (Indigenous Legal Order and Family Law), is an introduction to Indigenous and Quebecois rights in the context of family relations. It will cover specific topics such as customary child care, customary adoption, and ceremonies for children. The course is a lecture-based format with an expected enrollment of 30 students and is worth 1.5 credits.

Requirements

  • Hold an LL.L. or LL.B. (or equivalent).
  • Be a member in good standing of the Quebec Bar, the bar of another province, or the Chamber of Notaries of Quebec.
  • Have significant and relevant experience in the field covered by the course, or hold a graduate degree in this field, or have contributed to research through academic publications demonstrating recognized expertise in this field.
  • Be proficient in French.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching university-level courses in a law faculty is an asset.
  • Passive competence in a second language.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the course 'Ordre juridique autochtone et droit de la famille' (DCC1512 Section A00).
  • Provide instruction in French.
  • Conduct the course during the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Hold the course session on Wednesdays from 17:00 to 20:00 virtually.
