About The Position

This course, TRA 5541, focuses on translating general texts, combining theory and practical exercises. Students will translate from French to English, covering popular texts from various fields such as journalism, scientific popularization, and advertising, with and without the use of computer tools. The course aims to develop research and transfer skills necessary for progressing to more complex and specialized texts. The instructor will be responsible for teaching the course, managing class activities and assessments, primarily in French and occasionally in English. They will also be responsible for creating and maintaining a course website within the university's learning management system and selecting appropriate source texts for students.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in English (passive) and French (active) at a professional level.
  • Master's degree in Translation or Translatology, recognized by a professional association or order of translators recognized by the School for the English to French transfer combination, or equivalent professional and university experience.
  • Extensive professional experience in translating from English to French, preferably in Canada.
  • Teaching experience at the university level is an asset.

Responsibilities
