About The Position

The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Arts is announcing a Long-Term Assignment (LTA) opportunity within its Experiential Learning (EL) program, focusing on both English and French streams. This role is crucial for the program's growth and sustainability, ensuring quality, continuity, and development of the new In-Depth Experiential Learning option. The LTA will provide dedicated instructional and administrative leadership to build community partnerships, pedagogical frameworks, and institutional relationships. This position is shared with the Department of Modern Languages (LLM) due to its interdisciplinary nature. The role includes teaching two Spanish courses (ESP) and four AHL courses with experiential learning components, plus a 3-credit administrative component for facilitating, coordinating, and supervising Experiential Learning activities in the francophone community engagement stream. This administrative component is essential due to the increased workload of community-engaged and experiential courses, involving liaison with community partners, student placement oversight, reflective learning assessment, and program coordination.

Requirements

  • A PhD in an interdisciplinary field relevant to cultural policies and heritage, digital humanities, or related areas.
  • Proven experience in pedagogical leadership and educational program management, especially in bilingual or multilingual settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong community and institutional partnerships.
  • Fluent in French, English, and Spanish with substantial experience in academia.
  • Handling administrative roles related to experiential learning.
  • Experience in designing and leading interdisciplinary courses, with a special interest in experiential and community-engaged learning environments.
  • Documented success in innovative teaching methods and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of two Spanish courses (ESP) and four AHL courses specifically designed to integrate experiential learning components.
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and supervise the day-to-day Experiential Learning activities, particularly within the francophone community engagement programs.
  • Engage actively with community partners for student placements and program development.
  • Manage and assess the reflective learning experiences of students to enhance the educational outcomes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation in pedagogical practices and curriculum development within the department.
