About The Position

The Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach FLS2751, Section A00, Discutons en français, during the Fall 2026 semester. This course focuses on the study and practice of oral communication in everyday and semi-formal language registers, including expressing opinions and feelings, observing and imitating various models, and engaging in directed conversations and discussions. The course involves in-class and laboratory exercises. The position is limited to regular part-time professors. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31. The offered rates do not include vacation or statutory pay and will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity paid after ratification. Requirements

Master's degree in French as a Second Language didactics or a relevant field for teaching French as a Second Language.
Two years of experience teaching FLS at the university level, or equivalent.
Familiarity with relevant software and technology for teaching French as a Second Language courses.
Any professor who taught an FLS/ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018, is considered to meet the educational requirement.
An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

Teach FLS2751, Section A00, Discutons en français.
Focus on the study and practice of oral communication in everyday and semi-formal language registers.
Facilitate expression of opinions and feelings.
Guide observation and imitation of various models.
Conduct directed conversations (spontaneous and prepared) and discussions.
Oversee in-class and laboratory exercises.
