About The Position

This posting is for a New Position for the 2026 Fall Semester in the Faculty of Arts, Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI). The course is FLS1513, Section A00: Grammaire française – Débutant. This course is an introduction to the fundamental principles of French grammar, including conjugation systems, adjectives, pronouns, and sentence structure. The expected enrollment is 30 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The instruction language is French, and the course is delivered in person on Wednesdays from 16:00 to 17:30 and Fridays from 14:30 to 16:00. The hourly rate for this language course is $203.54 (2024-2025 rates), which does not include vacation or statutory pay. These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified, with retroactivity paid after ratification. The academic year runs from September 1 to August 31.

Requirements

Master's degree in French as a Second Language didactics or a relevant field for teaching French as a Second Language.
Two years of experience teaching FLS at the university level, or equivalent.
Familiarity with relevant software and technology for teaching French as a Second Language courses.
Any professor who taught an FLS/ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018, is considered to meet the educational requirement.

Responsibilities

Teach French grammar at the beginner level (FLS1513).
Introduce fundamental principles of French grammar, including conjugation systems, adjectives, pronouns, and sentence structure.
Deliver instruction in French.
Conduct in-person classes on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Potentially complete mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
