About The Position

The Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Political Studies at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach POL1101 - Introduction to Political Science during the Fall 2026 semester. This course involves a comparative study of political phenomena, ideas, concepts, and issues, with a focus on power, citizenship, and political participation. It also includes an introduction to research tasks such as bibliographic research and report writing. The course is scheduled to be taught in person on Mondays from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. The expected enrollment is 244 students, and the course is worth 3 credits. The hourly rate for teaching is $239.47 (2024-2025 rates), which does not include vacation or statutory pay and will be subject to adjustments based on a new collective agreement.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Ph.D. coursework in the field of political science.
  • Teaching experience in the field of political science.
  • Competence in a second language (active).
