About The Position

Vista Veterinary Specialists is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our growing Cardiology Team on a full-time basis. Our 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary hospital recently relocated to a newly expanded 17,300-square-foot advanced medical facility designed to support cutting-edge specialty and critical care medicine. The hospital features four fully equipped operating rooms, an advanced on-site CT scanner, dedicated ICU and Intermediate Care Units, digital radiography and ultrasonography, endoscopy, and full in-house laboratory services. We provide advanced veterinary specialty services in Emergency & Critical Care, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, and Radiology. Our collaborative, multi-disciplinary team is committed to delivering exceptional patient care and advanced diagnostics in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license required
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia, pharmacology, patient monitoring, and advanced nursing care
  • Proficiency with ECG, radiology, anesthesia monitoring, and in-house laboratory equipment
  • Strong clinical judgment with ability to calculate drug dosages, fluids, and estimates accurately
  • Excellent communication, organization, and client education skills
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, collaborative specialty hospital environment
  • Physically able to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs and extended periods of standing

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in specialty, emergency, or cardiology veterinary care preferred
  • Familiarity with cardiology diagnostics (e.g., echocardiography) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced nursing care for cardiology inpatients and outpatients, including critical and complex cases
  • Perform patient assessments, triage, obtain medical histories, and monitor hospitalized patients
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians
  • Assist with and monitor advanced diagnostic procedures, including echocardiograms, ECGs, radiography, and CT imaging
  • Support anesthetic procedures, including induction, monitoring, and recovery of patients undergoing cardiology-related diagnostics and procedures
  • Collect and process laboratory samples and maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Operate and monitor anesthesia, imaging, and patient monitoring equipment
  • Provide client education regarding cardiac disease management, medications, diagnostics, and discharge care instructions
  • Collaborate closely with cardiologists, RVTs, assistants, and specialty teams to deliver exceptional patient care in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment
