About The Position

The Registered Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible to assist with program participant evaluations and assessments, educate individuals and team members, complete required documentation, communicate with other health care professionals regarding the IPP/IEP, assist with departmental maintenance and supplies, participate in Agency activities, assist in orientation to the department and assist with equipment adaptation. Requirements

  • A.A.S. Degree or High School Diploma plus Specialized Trade Certificate (Physical Therapy)
  • Up to one year of experience.
  • Ability to lift and/or assist individuals in your care and the ability to meet the physical requirements of the specific job.
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Assist with program participants’ evaluations and assessments on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in planning and implementing appropriate treatment and goals based upon the evaluation.
  • Educate individuals and/or team members about findings of the evaluation, established treatment plans, methods of treatment.
  • Educate team members about on-going services, injury prevention, range of motion, positioning and any other areas within the scope of occupational therapy.
  • Complete all required documentation according to program regulations.
  • Communicate with other health care professionals relating to all aspects of the Individual Program Plan (IPP/Individual Education Plan (IEP)).
  • Assist with departmental maintenance and supplies.
  • Participate in activities as part of the treatment team that may include meetings, trainings, and committees.
  • Assist in orienting students, volunteers, and new therapists within the program.
  • Provide assessment, fabrication, modification, and repair of splints and other adaptive equipment.
