About The Position

SSH-Springfield is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Physical Therapy Assistants play a central role in providing compassionate, excellent treatment to patients. This per-diem role assists with physical therapy services and carries out interventions established by the physical therapist. The position offers an extensive orientation program and the possibility of future full-time opportunities. Compensation is $33 per hour. Part-time and per-diem employees may be eligible for a 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Valid state PTA license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with physical therapy services, including patient transportation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities.
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the physical therapist.
• Assist the physical therapist with interventions to support patients’ long-term goals, including strengthening, coordination and balance exercises; posture, endurance and cardiac training; functional skills and community re-entry training; joint mobility and muscle lengthening; and pain relief.
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices.
