About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital- Nashville is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) supports compassionate, excellent treatment for patients during vulnerable stages of recovery by assisting with physical therapy services and implementing treatment plans established by a physical therapist. This is a per diem (PRN) position.

Requirements

• Valid state PTA license.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivering physical therapy services, including patient transportation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities.
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the physical therapist.
• Assist the physical therapist with interventions designed to meet patients’ long-term goals, including strengthening, coordination and balance exercises; posture, endurance and cardiac training; functional skills and community re-entry training; joint mobility and muscle lengthening; and pain relief.
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices.
