About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Physical Therapy Assistant helps deliver compassionate treatment to patients during recovery, supporting physical therapy services and implementing goals, plans, and programs established by the physical therapist. The position is per diem in Danville, Kentucky, and pays $31.00 per hour. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and notes that strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem positions may qualify for a 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within the first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Valid state PTA license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of physical therapy services, including transportation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities.
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the physical therapist.
• Assist the physical therapist with interventions supporting patients’ long-term goals, including strengthening, coordination and balance exercises; posture, endurance/cardiac, functional skills, and community re-entry training; joint mobility and muscle lengthening; and pain relief.
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices.
