About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital–TriCities is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Physical Therapy Assistants help deliver compassionate treatment to patients during vulnerable stages of their recovery. This position is in Bristol, Tennessee, and is per diem on days, with compensation of $35.00 per hour and a $3,000 sign-on bonus. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and the possibility of future full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) eligibility after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Valid state Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with physical therapy services, including patient transportation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities.
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the physical therapist.
• Assist the physical therapist with interventions addressing patients’ long-term goals, including strengthening, coordination and balance; posture, endurance and cardiac conditioning; functional skills and community re-entry; joint mobility, muscle lengthening, and pain relief.
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices.
