About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Southeast Ohio (Newark) is seeking a per diem Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to support inpatient post-ICU care for chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The role assists with delivering physical therapy services and carrying out treatment plans established by a physical therapist. The schedule is PRN, with weekday daytime shifts, and compensation is $32 per hour.

The hospital offers an extensive orientation program to support the transition into its setting. Demonstrated skills and dedication may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may be eligible for a 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Valid state PTA license.
• Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the delivery of physical therapy services, including transportation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities.
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the physical therapist.
• Assist the physical therapist with interventions designed to meet patients’ long-term goals, including strengthening, coordination and balance exercises; posture, endurance/cardiac, functional skills, and community re-entry training; joint mobility and muscle lengthening; and pain relief.
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices.
