About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital–Nashville is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) supports compassionate, high-quality treatment during patients’ recovery. The role assists with physical therapy services and carries out treatment goals, plans, and programs established by a physical therapist. The position is per diem (PRN). Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) benefits after reaching 1,000 hours during their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program, and strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities.

Requirements

• Hold a valid state PTA license.
• Have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of physical therapy services, including patient transportation, therapeutic exercises, and functional activities.
• Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the physical therapist.
• Assist the physical therapist with interventions addressing patients’ long-term goals, including strengthening, coordination and balance exercises; posture, endurance/cardiac, functional skills, and community re-entry training; joint mobility and muscle lengthening; and pain relief.
• Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices.
