About The Position

The critical care nurse provides direct and individualized care to acutely and critically ill patients in a highly technical environment with ongoing monitoring. The nurse assesses patient condition, performs diagnostic tests, begins treatments, and assists physicians with required medical procedures. The nurse monitors and adjusts specialized equipment and interprets and records electronic displays, including intracranial and central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, and ventilator settings.

This position is in the Neuro Trauma ICU at CoxHealth South in Springfield, Missouri. The unit emphasizes quality patient care, hands-on experience with high-acuity patients, and a supportive, team-centered culture for patients and staff. The scheduled weekly hours are 24, with shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. This is a weekend option position.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or an NLN-approved program.
• Active RN license in the state of Missouri.
• Obtain BLS within 90 days.
• Obtain ACLS within one year of hire.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated effective leadership abilities.
• Valuable time-management skills.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility and ability to work in a multitasking environment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Previous nursing experience.
