About The Position

At St. Croix Hospice, Registered Nurses help guide patients and families through the end-of-life journey, supporting dignity, comfort, and respect. The On-Call Registered Nurse is an essential part of the 24/7 care model, providing skilled and responsive care during evenings, nights, and weekends. The role addresses urgent patient needs, completes after-hours admissions, and offers calm, confident guidance during critical moments. The schedule is seven days on and seven days off, with overnight and weekend coverage.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree is accepted.
• At least one year of recent acute care experience.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current CPR certification.
• Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

• Hospice or home care experience.

Responsibilities

• Respond to triage calls and provide after-hours nursing visits for symptom management, admissions, and care plan updates.
• Develop and adjust individualized care plans based on evolving needs.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments, and provide education and support to patients and caregivers.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation of care, outcomes, and communication.
