About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Monitor Bed Unit (MBU) at Ashe Memorial Hospital provides direct, patient-centered care utilizing clinical expertise, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice. This role involves continuous patient monitoring, timely intervention, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Recent Critical Care and/or Medical-Surgical experience required
  • Strong clinical judgment and prioritization skills
  • Ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
  • High level of professionalism and accountability
  • Compliance with all health and safety policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered)
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (post-offer)

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to clinical changes
  • Perform comprehensive assessments for patients across the lifespan
  • Administer medications safely using electronic medical record systems
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to abnormalities
  • Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and specialized treatments
  • Provide patient and family education, support, and advocacy
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and compliant patient care environment
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members
