About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the DPH Intermediate Critical Care / Multisystem Progressive Care Unit (PCU), a 33-bed unit adjacent to the ICU. The unit provides transitional step-down care for adult patients who no longer require intensive care but need continued close monitoring. Patients may have potentially life-threatening conditions, be recovering from post-catheterization procedures, or require advanced monitoring, specialized medication drips, and/or ventilator support. Specialized medication drips include nicardipine, insulin, and nitroglycerin. The position is variable full-time and involves three 12-hour day shifts, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with rotating weekends. The nurse assesses patients, plans and evaluates individualized care, advocates for patients and families, and collaborates with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team.
