About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the ICU uses critical thinking and the nursing process to coordinate and provide safe, quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse also helps organize patient care activities as assigned. This is a per diem, night-shift position at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Requirements

• Graduate of a Registered Nurse program.
• Registered Nurse license.
• BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• ACLS certification from the AHA; required within 90 days for inexperienced RNs.
• NIH Stroke Certification within 60 days of hire or transfer.
• PALS within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• For inexperienced RNs, Basic EKG, Critical Care Course, and Trauma Course within 6 months.
• TNCC within 18 months of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, educational, growth, and developmental needs.
• Develop a written plan of care using assessment data.
• Implement the nursing care plan.
• Evaluate patients’ responses to interventions.
• Demonstrate leadership skills.
• Assist in organizing patient care activities.
