Registered Nurse (RN) - Float Pool

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital•Grand Rapids, MI
•Onsite

About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Float Pool role supports inpatient nursing care across Mary Free Bed’s campus. Float Pool RNs rotate among applicable inpatient units according to organizational needs and their validated competencies. Although each RN is assigned a home unit for leader, finance, and payroll purposes, there is no home unit for scheduling; nurses are deployed across clinical areas. Float Pool nurses receive a 10% increase above their base rate. RNs coordinate, direct, delegate, and provide care to multiple patients as members of a multidisciplinary team. Using a patient- and family-centered approach, they develop relationships that support high-quality rehabilitation care. They assess patients, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and develop or follow patient-centered plans of care aligned with the attending physician’s and other disciplines’ priorities. Patient and family education is an important part of helping patients gain independence, apply adaptation strategies, and return home. The role includes promoting patient safety, participating in quality improvement, maintaining professional relationships with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues, and following organizational policies and standards of care. RNs may also assist with staff selection, orientation, precepting, and student clinical rotations when assigned. The position is offered full-time or part-time, with day and night shifts available, a rotating schedule, and a weekend requirement. The listed schedules are 36 or 24 hours per week. The role is based at the Main Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
