About The Position
The New Grad Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) provides entry-level nursing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The role uses organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions, and develop and carry out patient care plans intended to improve outcomes. The RN helps maintain a safe and therapeutic environment and collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team.
Requirements
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), or RN applicant.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association must be obtained before providing direct patient care.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Assess patient status and condition.
- Provide care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses.
- Collect vital signs and administer IV medications.
- Understand and complete charting.
- Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to support planned and expected outcomes.
- Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice requirements and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
