About The Position

The New Grad Med-Surg Registered Nurse delivers entry-level nursing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The role uses organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions, and develop and perform patient care plans that improve outcomes. The nurse helps ensure a safe and therapeutic environment and collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or RN applicant.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association must be obtained before providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status and collect vital signs.
• Provide care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses.
• Administer IV medications and other medications safely in accordance with state requirements and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
• Understand and complete patient charting.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to facilitate achievement of expected outcomes.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
