About The Position

Saint Clare's Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for Psych Emergency Services. The role provides nursing care to patients experiencing behavioral health needs, including psychiatric crisis intervention and therapeutic group facilitation. Nurses also document patient histories and symptoms, assist with diagnostic testing, operate medical equipment, administer treatments and medications, and support follow-up and rehabilitation. They educate patients and families about mental and medical conditions, illness or injury management, diet and exercise, medication self-administration, and physical therapy, while providing advice and emotional support. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
• Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
• Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients and provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members.
• Educate patients about mental and medical conditions and teach patients and families how to manage illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, medication self-administration, and physical therapy.
• Run therapeutic groups and provide psychiatric crisis intervention, including seclusion and restraint of patients.
• Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms.
• Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
• Operate medical machinery.
• Administer treatments and medications.
• Help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
• Perform other related duties.
