Registered Nurse - Psych Emergency Services
About The Position
Saint Clare's Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for Psych Emergency Services. Registered nurses provide patient care and education, emotional support, psychiatric crisis intervention, and therapeutic groups. They record medical histories and symptoms, assist with diagnostic testing and analysis, operate medical equipment, administer treatments and medications, and support patient follow-up and rehabilitation. They also teach patients and families about managing illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, medication self-administration, and physical therapy. Other related duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
- Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
- Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
Responsibilities
- Treat patients and provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members.
- Educate patients about mental and medical conditions and teach patients and families how to manage illness or injury.
- Run therapeutic groups and provide psychiatric crisis intervention.
- Perform seclusion and restraint of patients.
- Record patients' medical histories and symptoms.
- Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
- Operate medical machinery.
- Administer treatments and medications.
- Help with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
- Teach patients and families about diet and exercise programs, medication self-administration, and physical therapy.
- Perform other related duties.
