About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the Labor & Delivery Unit (E5), primarily supporting the OB operating room. UAMS Labor and Delivery is located in the Harry P. Ward Clinical Tower and includes 14 LDR rooms, four triage observation beds, two operating room suites, a three-bed recovery area, and two neonatal stabilization rooms. The unit provides high-risk obstetrical care for patients throughout Arkansas and performs approximately 300–330 deliveries per month. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with on-call duty required. The RN delivers care within the limits of the Arkansas Nurse Practice Act and follows UAMS policies, procedures, and standards of care, including standards established by UAMS, the ANA, and specialty patient populations. The role includes assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation, patient and family education, and discharge planning.
