About The Position

The Registered Nurse in Surgical Services provides direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. The role implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and communicates patient conditions, and coordinates care across disciplines. The nurse carries out physician and nursing orders and coordinates patients’ discharge planning needs with the healthcare team. This is a full-time day-shift position at UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair.

Requirements

• Alabama Registered Nurse licensure from the Alabama Board of Nursing, obtained before hire or job transfer.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
• Required professional licensure at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care according to established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Coordinate care among disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
