About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in the Surgical Services procedural area, including pre-operative holding and block. The role follows the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. The nurse implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and communicates patient condition, coordinates care across disciplines, carries out physician and nursing orders, and works with the healthcare team on discharge planning. The position is based at UAB St. Vincent’s East and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 0530–1330.
Requirements
- Hold a Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing before the hire date or job transfer date.
- Hold a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing.
- Have required professional licensure at the time of hire.
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Coordinate the work of all disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
