RN - Registered Nurse - Surgical Services - Procedural
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in the Surgical Services procedural area, specifically pre-operative holding and block, in accordance with the healthcare organization’s established policies, procedures, and protocols. The nurse implements and monitors patient care plans, monitors and records patient conditions, and communicates relevant information as appropriate. The role coordinates care across disciplines, carries out physician and nursing orders, and works with the healthcare team to assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs. The position is based at UAB St. Vincent’s East and is scheduled from 0530 to 1330, Monday through Friday.
Requirements
- Hold an active Registered Nurse credential from the Alabama Board of Nursing before the hire date or job transfer date.
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- Have a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and required professional licensure at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
